My Heck Creek Warm Morning Cove Scrapbook

There are two ways to go Warm Morning Cove. This is one of them and it takes you through Heck Creek twice. As you can see no one has traveled this way since last night's snow.

Heck Creek is on the right. The driveway to Warm Morning Cove is seen to the center left.

11/17/07  November brings forth the only blooms of November--Witch Hazel.

Here is a closeup of a snatched branch of Witch Hazel. This plant is one of my favorites and its presence at WMC adds to the magic every November.

This is the topography map for the property. The highest point is something around 3050. The lowest point is something around 2500.

This is the tax map.

There has not been survey of this property in a long time. Various properties adjacent have been surveyed relatively recently.
 
You will notice a piece in the middle 1571. This is an active mountain cemetery known as Heck Creek Cemetery; however, it is not located as shown. It is located in the notch on the perimeter as arrow shows above. The tax map also indicates 42.62 acres. The documents with this property read 47 Plus or Minus. Modern surveying of mountains does not consider actual land surface (as old ones did) but instead takes an aerial perspective as if it were flat. An actual survey might indicate yet another number but it would be safe to say that that number will likely be 42 plus acres.
