PMC simply modified the original 53-55 tooling and sold the 56-57 (inaccurate models) and 58 Corvette without any trademarks/ this car still has its original windshield and steering wheel and is a nice shelf model...$98. | ||

Stock# 106...1958 Chevrolet Corvette roadster hardtop/ red/ pot-metal/ limited run retro bank model cast by Banthrico for Orland Nichols/ 1:25th scale/ no opening features. This is one of the very first cars ever produced for the retro market. In the 1970's Nichols commissioned the Banthrico company to produce a copy of the SMP (AMT sister company) 58 Corvette dealer promotional model with an added factory hardtop. I am not sure if any of these cars were sold already painted and assembled. Most were sold as assemble-it-yourself kits. This car's body was spray painted red and then the windows, grill and bumpers were hand-painted silver. There was a spot on the trunk where a price sticker had been placed long ago. I tried to rub this off with lighter fluid. Oops. It brought the paint right off. My bad. There are two options here: strip the car (easy enough obviously) and repaint it to an even better standard or simply match and touch up the trunk lid. I suspect that the paint is Testors Red so it should match easily. This is not a commonly found car...$175. |
