| Stock# D71SSB...This 1971 Dodge Sportsman Wagon deluxe sales brochure measures 11 by 11 inches and is what I call a flip flop brochure. Half of it is devoted to "His" and you flip it over and the other half is "Hers." This one is packed with all the usual brochure material but especially interesting is the volume of great brochure art. Slightly imperfect covers so I give it a rating of 8 out of a possible 10. Stock# 119...1971 Dodge Charger 426 race car/ gold over red with black interior and chassis/ plastic/ dealer promo (not sure if Dodge dealers ever distributed this car) and Coca Cola promo made by MPC/ 1:25th scale/ no opening features/ there is much to say about this very special car. his is one of the rarest of promos. I know that there are at least two variations of this car and I believe a third. My memory (not always perfect for long ago) tells me that I have had one of these similar to this one but with a driver's name on the roof above the doors. And it seems that the number on the car was different and the driver's name was not Allison. I also had one of these that had fewer logos on the sides. The circular logo on the large rear pillar says, "Bobby Allison Racing, Hueytown, Alabama." Bobby Allison raced in Monte Carlos and Mercurys in 1971 and Dodges, but I almost think that the #12 Dodge he ran in 71 was actually a winged 70. Nevertheless, this is a cool car. This promo has an interior with a roll bar and with the passenger seat removed. This is the way the car came new. The rear chrome on this car has a bit of rub but the front bumper seems to be very nice. Almost all the decals are in very good shape. You can see a bit of flaking on the roof number and the Coke decal on the hood. One "426" decal has a wrinkle which probably has been that way since new. There is a tire mark on the hood just behind the hood scoop. Study the pictures for details. The valence panel under the rear bumper seems to be missing a small portion. Perhaps is was made that way for some reason. The kit versions of the 71 and 72 Chargers should yield this piece either for the missing section or a complete replacement. Since it is semi-gloss black, it will be easy to match. This car is what I call a multiple promo. It is likely to be collected by NASCAR, dealer promo, Coca-Cola, and Dodge collectors as well as Bobby Allison collectors. Price...$425. |
